click to enlarge Back to Aphrodite again this year (2009) brilliant as usual.  Owners of the resort are wonderful people.  I know I keep saying that but it makes your holiday "special" to feel like part of their family.

Air condition was installed lat year, a real plus as it can get very hot in July/August.  Tongue

Had a couple of tropical storms whilst we were there in Aug/Sept, what a spectacular sight it was too, only lasted a few hours and didin't spoil the holiday one bit, nothing like you get in England.  For some reason the moon always looks bigger in Corfu, you can almost see people on it!

Will be going back again next year for the 8th time and can't wait.  See ya all there. Wink

I have stayed at the Aphrodite on 2 occasions and have visited Paleo 6 times over the last 8 years - I absoulety love Paleo, having had the opportunity to travel around the world I was really surprised to find my paradise a mere 3 hour flight from the UK.  The other tropical beaches I have visited are nothing compared to the rugged beauty of Paleokastritsa and I have no desire to visit anywhere else in the world.  I am looking to visit the Aphrodite Apartments again this year so if anyone has the direct line so that I can book directly with them could you email me on clairebrade@hotmail.co.uk

Just came back on monday after late week at Aphrodite. This is the fourth time Marlene and I have stayed here and never had one problem.

Been to Paleo 13 times now in the last 8 years, always said we would never go to the same place twice but after the first visit in 2000 that was it.

This year been to tunisia, Murcia, Singapore but always look forward to going back to Paleo.

I left my camera near the pool and only realised when getting home. I am certain it will be there next year but would like to show friends this years pics.   Iam having trouble getting through on their "advert" card from behind the bar,  DOES ANYONE HAVE A TELEPHONE NUMBER PLEASE
if so please e-mail chipsdobson@hotmail.com

Thanks

Just returned from a week long stay, our 4th in Paleo and our second time at the Aphroditi.  As before, the apartments are spotless, modern and comfortable, with air conditioning if needed.  Elizabeth and Magda are both excellent hosts, the garden and surroundings are beautiful.

The pool facilities are clean and free, and the small bar is open until the wee hours of the morning, and it was nice to sit around at night and have a chat and a drink with others.

We particularly loved George and Terry, the two pet tortoise, whom we fed nearly every day.  George is a softy and loves to have his head rubbed - this was all the entertainment we needed, along with the beautiful views, swallows and bats swooping about at night, and the odd cat wandering through our apartment - not to mention the local Corfiot owls, who hooted out of the darkness every night.

A thoroughly enjoyable holiday, made all the better by our excellent hosts and beautiful surroundings.  We will definitely stay at the Aphroditi again.

We have just returned from a week at Aphrodite in  Sept. The studios are at the top end of Paleo, so it is quite a walk to the harbour end. There is no pavement for most of the way so this would make it quite dangerous in the season and especially at night. The studios are very basic but clean. I would not attempt to produce a meal on the oven/hob but I don't go on holiday to cook. There are plenty of restaurants within easy reach. The studios do not have air con but you can hire a fan [noisy] and a key to the safe box for 15 euros per week. beds were changed and 2 towels provided, although hard they did the job. The fridge was noisy when trying to sleep and it did not freeze bottles of water. The pool was very clean and not at all busy. The only bus that passes through goes to Corfu town and nowhere else on the island. It fills up at the other end and doesn't stop at the top end. There is no public transport through Paleo to other parts of the island.

We loved everything about Aphroditi!  Magda and Elizabeth are fabulous as are the appartments and the pool.  It's at the end of paleo so a bit out of it but still excellent.  This is the second time i've been and i'd quite happily go again tomorrow

  Location : Poor
  Quietness : Excellent
  Cleanliness : Excellent

The Aphroditi apartments are basic, but clean. Very clean. The pool area is well maintained with plenty of sun loungers and the people who own the place are very friendly and helpful. On the down side, the apartments are well out of the main resort (4 mile round trip) and the taxis are non existant and very, very expensive. Restaurant around the apartments are poor. Oasis, Spiros and Maltidas are very poor (all next to apartments). If you want good food visit Doukades or even Lapades. Would recommend hiring a scooter to get about and go to Lakones (5 mins) for views, Agios Gordias (25 mins) for then beach and Corfu town (20 mins) for the atmosphere and culture.

Basically, Paleo is pretty, but limited in what you can do. Not a resort for those who want to be able to have a meal after 10.30pm (unless you head to the excellent Doukades) or want to be able to get around the island without having a long bus journey everywhere. I'm not being negative, just realistic. I love my holiday and will be back, but without transport, I would have went insane.

The mountains are beautiful. Have fun and explore.

Vist Doukades for great food and a real Greek experiance.

Visit the Monistary when the sun is setting for an unforgettable sun set. (Got to go right up the hill past the restaurant to enjoy it).

Got to go up to Lakones to just appreciate the true beauty of Paleo.
